Axis Martial Arts is a martial arts school based in Rugby, Warwickshire in the United Kingdom. The Dojo was started by Jamie Seal (8th Dan) in May 2016 to bring the martial art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (a.k.a Ninjutsu) to Rugby.

What We Get Up To:


Axis Martial Arts Adult Lessons for students aged 14+.

We also launched our Axis Forge in 2017.

Axis Ryu Shurikenjutsu in 2018 which focuses on teaching no spin Shurikenjutsu (knife throwing).

We had the honour of teaching at the Kaizen Expo 2018 and will be back there for Kaizen 2019 in July.

The Real Mini Ninjas launched in January 2019. These are the lessons for our younger students aged 4 to 9 years old.

The Shadow Warriors lessons are for students aged 10 - 14 years old. The Shadow Warriors focus on developing more complex technical ability, fitness and sparring in preparation for he student to eventually move into the adult lessons.

Axis Women's Only Kickboxing. Our women only lessons which focus on fitness, self defence and pad work. These lessons are geared towards having fun, losing weight and getting fit whilst learning martial arts in an environment that the student feels comfortable in.

Our UK Double Nunchaku Association lessons and seminars are designed to teach both adults and students how to use this iconic martial arts weapon. Aside from being an effective form of martial arts weaponry, Nunchaku are great for developing eye hand co-ordination, fitness and its great fun!
Foam Nunchaku are provided and available for purchase during lessons and seminars.

So what do we study in the Axis Martial Arts Dojo?

Training from White Belt (10th Kyu) to 1st Dan black belt (Shodan) primarily consists of studying the Tenchijin Ryaku No Maki (The Principles of Heaven, Earth and Man) which is a combination of nine different schools or martial arts compiled by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi (34th Grandmaster of Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu).

​The Tenchijin Ryaku No Maki teaches the Budoka (Student) a variety of fundamental techniques and Kata such as:​

  • Tobi - Leaping
  • Karuwaza - Acrobatics

  • Sanshin No Kata - Elemental Feeling Forms
  • Te Hodoki - Escaping a wrist grab
  • Dakentaijutsu - Striking
  • Shime Waza - Choking Techniques
  • Nage Kaeshi - Defence Against Throws
  • Shinken Gata Keiko - Actual Fighting Training
  • Jutaijutsu Gata - Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu
  • And much more!


All equipment should only ever be used in the dojo under the supervision of a qualified Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu Instructor, and NEVER under ANY circumstances should live bladed weaponry be brought into the Dojo! All training is done with rubber or wooden weapons to prevent injury.

All instructors are fully qualified and insured, DBS checked, qualified level 3 first aiders and hold MAIUK Level 1 Instructors qualifications.

All instructors have been through an enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau and has been cleared to work with children.
