PTFE Tape: The Cure For What Ails Ya!
Share
A really common issue that you experience when owning co2 air pistols and airoft pistols is gas leakage. This tends to be because the co2 capsule has either been screwed into the chamber too hard, breaking the seal and allowing the gas to escape, or it's been left with gas in the chamber and the seals worn out.
Now you can search for the very specific seal and strip your pistol down and replace the seal or you can use a quick fix such an putting a drop of oil into the seal before loading a co2 capsule into the chamber.
I find the best option is to cover the nozzle of the 12oz co2 capsule with a few strips of PTFE tape which can be found in any DIY shop like Wickes for about 60p to a £1 per roll.
The PTFE taped capsul pushed into the valve in the chamber will provide enough of a seal to stop any leaks and fix the operation of the air pistol.
Just be mindfulness not to leave it loaded with gas and don't use anymore PTFE tape than you need to as thicker layers put more pressure on the seal and mean you will keep having to increase it by a few layers each time you change the capsule.
It's a useful quick fix which enables you to keep shooting whether competitively or for fun, so always carry a small roof of PTFE tape in your right.
